“For the kingdom of God is not in word, but in power.”
1 Cor. 4.20
Discussion
Today, I want you see that being a believer is much more than attending Church once or twice a week. I want you to see that a believer has become a son of God (1John3:1). He/she has become the very tabernacle of the Spirit of God(1Cor 3:16). There's no part of this that's ordinary or natural. The one who has believed that Jesus rose from the dead has himself/herself also risen from the dead (1John 5:11-12/John 5:24-25). You have come into the newness of life(Rom 6:4). The old man is dead and gone, and you are the new creature born out of Christ's death and resurrection (1Peter 1:3). When we heard the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ and believed it, we were instantly reborn; a new creature(2Cor 5:17). The gospel is that power that causes this to be(Rom 1:16). God took all of His power of recreation, and bottled it up in a message. When we preach this message, we release this power into creation, and creation becomes recreated; dead sinners are resurrected into the newness of the divine life. Read this again; 1Cor.4.20; "For the kingdom of God is not in word, but in power.". And in simpler translations; 1Cor.4.20; "For the Kingdom of God is not just fancy talk; it is living by God's power."NLT and 1Cor.4.20; "God's Way is not a matter of mere talk; it's an empowered life."MSB. See that? The believer has an empowered life. It's not a life of mere talking; it's the life of divine power! He is empowered to live in victory over sin(Rom 6:6-7). He is empowered to preach the gospel and bring men into God's kingdom(Matt 28:18-19). He is empowered to demonstrate the power of God in great signs, wonders, healings and miracles(John 14:12). He is empowered to rule over the circumstances of life(Mark 11:23). Hear this clearly! You're not ordinary! You are empowered to succeed by God's Spirit who lives in you!
Shalom Uvracha!
Confession
The Spirit of God lives in me, therefore I am not ordinary. I have been empowered by God's Spirit to walk in victory everyday. Hallelujah!
