“Give us this day our daily bread.”
Matt 6:11
Discussion
Deut.8.3; "And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the LORD doth man live." God fed the Israelites with Manna in the wilderness. It was supernaturally produced. It simply just appeared at their doorsteps every morning as the morning dew evaporated.
In Deuteronomy 8:3, Moses explained to the Israelites that the hunger they experienced in the wilderness was permitted by God in order to humble them and then He fed them with the supernatural manna to teach them that man doesn't live on bread alone but by every word that comes out of the mouth of God. So, we see that the supply of manna was a lesson to the Israelites, and of course to us. It wasn't simply a divine food supply but more importantly a lesson that the words from God's mouth are more important to man's life than the food that goes into his mouth. Therefore, when Jesus taught His disciples to pray saying in; Matt 6:11; "Give us this day our daily bread.", He couldn't have been more particularly interested in physical bread and fish.
The content of the prayer Jesus taught them was focused on the Father, His will and His kingdom. Matt.6:9-13; "…Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen." We know that God doesn't give food to only children of the kingdom. He gives the whole earth food, including animals. Matt.5:45; "That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust." If all creation gets their food freely from God, why then do the children of the Kingdom have to pray for daily bread? Therefore, for this to be part of the prayer made by Jesus, it must mean more than just physical food but more particularly about receiving the words out of God's mouth.
The word of God out of God's mouth is our daily bread. This is called rhema. Hallelujah! Rhema is our daily bread. It is God's word to you for a particular situation, at a particular time. This is the word we live by. This is the word by which our spirits are nourished and strengthened to rule over each day. It's our daily bread. As the body without food gets weak, so the spirit without rhema gets confused.Pray today, "Father give me today my daily rhema."
Shalom Uvracha!

Job.23.12 — I have not departed from the commands of his lips; I have treasured the words of his mouth more than my daily bread.
