“But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.”
1 Cor.2.9
Discussion
Many quote the above verse while referring to some material or financial provision soon to be received from God. These things that eyes have not seen, nor ears heard, nor any hearts ever comprehended cannot be referring to new houses, nice cars or international travels. Notice that it says these are things God has prepared for those who love Him. The people of the world who neither know God nor love Him have great riches in material possessions. So how can what God has prepared for you who love Him be the things the world has freely? Think about it.
The next verse shows us that these things are things only revealed to us by the Holy Spirit; 1Cor.2.10; "But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God." Thus, we know of these hidden things by revelation, not by observation. So, what are these things the Lord has prepared for those who love Him? 1Pet.1.3-4; "Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you," It's described as an inheritance that cannot be corrupted and is reserved for us in heaven. The apostle Paul further gives light to what this unimaginable inheritance is. Phil.3.20-21; "For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself." Hallelujah!
Many are expecting the Lord Jesus to appear in the air and we all going up into heaven to live with Him. We miss a great truth when we inaccurately interpret scriptures. Yes we're expecting the Lord Jesus. But what are we expecting Him for? It says; "to change our vile bodies that it may be fashioned like his glorious body". This is our great inheritance; a new body. A body like the body of the resurrected Christ. This is something our Father has prepared and reserved for us. It's beyond what our eyes, ears or minds can comprehend. Romans chapter eight tells us it's the manifestation of the sons of God...the redemption of our bodies (Rom 8:18-23). Knowing this, you should not be weighed down by the affairs of this world. Riches are deceitful, do not be carried away by them. Being a citizen of Heaven, set your affections on heavenly things; our glorious expectation;...the redemption of our bodies. Hallelujah!
