“Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.”
Prov 4:23

DISCUSSION:
Whatever you do in this world, make sure you take care of your heart. The heart is more than just an internal organ that pumps and circulates blood throughout the body. The heart is symbolic of your spirit. Just as the heart pumps blood into all the rest of the body, the spirit releases life that governs the whole of your living. Taking care of your physical heart by eating the right foods and exercising could prolong your life and protect you from a heart failure. Likewise, taking care of your spiritual heart/spirit, will save you from spiritual heart failure. What's a spiritual heart failure? It's when the negative contents of your heart begin poisoning the rest of your life. Things such as offence, malice, envy, lust etc are poisonous substances you must never let into your heart. They'll destroy you. The way to take care of your spiritual heart is to guard it diligently. Prov 4:23; "Above all else, guard your heart, for it affects everything you do."NLT. Your motives and actions in life could be from a poisoned heart. Your responses to people and situations can be affected by the things you have allowed into your heart. A poisoned heart destroys marriages and messes up divinely orchestrated relationships. At the time of typing this material, I had just had a security man speak rather harshly to me for an innocent mistake of sitting in an area cordoned off from the public. I was going to respond with equal harshness but by the help of the Holy Spirit I realized that this altercation would affect my heart and obstruct my flow in the Spirit in preparing this material. I chose to fix my mind on life enriching realities; the word of God. Phil4:8; "Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things." Your mind is the doorway to your heart. If you keep thinking about negative things, your heart will soon be compromised and your life will be affected. Since the bible has given you the test of material content of your thoughts, stay with it. Make sure whatever is on your mind passes the test of Philippians 4:8. In this way, you'd be guarding your heart from heart failure and ensuring you have a fruitful life. Shalom Uvracha!
