Discussion

DISCUSSION

Sincere believers are often confused when they try to reconcile their experiences in life with the realities revealed in the scriptures. It sometimes doesn't add up. For example; 2Cor5:17 says if you're in Christ, you're a new creature and old things are gone because all things have become new for you. Some would look at themselves and think; "well I don't feel new". In fact, many old things still seem to be in your new life. This could make some people discouraged. The problem is that many have not been taught the truth about the human person. Every one of us is fully and essentially spirit, soul and body. Therefore, it is important to always identify which part of you the bible is referring to in any instant. According to 2Cor5:17, it is your spirit (the inner man) that has been made a new creature. All old ties are gone; you have now become one spirit with the Lord (1Cor6:17). In your spirit, you have been made completely righteous and full of love like Christ. Rom5:5; ".. the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us." Can you see where the love is? It's where the Holy Spirit is; in your spirit. Your spirit is completely identical to Christ, therefore as He is, so are you in this world (1John 4:17). It is your spirit that was delivered and translated out of the devil's reach and into the kingdom of God (Col 1:13). Likewise, it is your spirit that's seated with Christ far above all power and dominion (Eph 2:5-6). So, when the bible says that you have been "...blessed with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:" Eph 1:3, you must see that He is referring to your spirit. That's why it's called spiritual blessings, not physical blessings. These are not blessings of cars and houses etc. In Christ Jesus we have been given the blessing of oneness with Christ in all His nature and all His authority. Thus, we have His righteousness and His authority. Hallelujah! Now, how does this translate to our daily experience? Our bodies fall into the jurisdiction of our physical experiences, but our minds (soul) govern our physical experiences through our thoughts, beliefs and speech. Therefore, the mind is the bridge between spiritual realities and physical experiences. So, although your spirit has been made righteous by Christ, you will fail to live righteously if your mind does not align with the righteousness in your spirit. In your spirit, sickness and death are already defeated, but if your mind does not fully align to this reality, your body will fail to respond to this truth. Renewing your mind by God's word is the only way out (Rom.12.2). All the riches of eternal life are already in your spirit. Constantly renew your mind by God's word so that you can enjoy it all. Shalom Uvracha!
