Discussion

DISCUSSION:

Now that you're born again, one of the essential virtues you must cultivate is 'Quietness'. Daily sessions of quietness will do you an unquantifiable volume of good. This quietness isn't about just keeping mute, rather it's more about what is going on in your mind. Thus, it is a silence of speech with contemplations of the mind. Personal prayer times shouldn't only be about talking and talking and screaming and shouting. You should have periods of quiet contemplations of the greatness of God and the depts of His Word. Ps.63:6; “I lie awake thinking of you, meditating on you through the night." NLT. King David was accustomed to this, so should you. Be quiet and just think about the magnificence of God and the power of His Word. Insight and understanding flood you in such seasons. This was a usual practice for our fathers in the faith; Like Isaac; Gen 24:63; "And Isaac went out to meditate in the field at the eventide...” Paul to Timothy; 1Tim 4:15; "Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all." In our day where there's so much noise; where we're surrounded by gadgets and occupied by financial pursuits, with more people getting depressed, we must ensure to build a daily quiet time. Your quiet time should include study, prayer and quiet contemplations on the majesty of God and His Word; thinking about His wonderful deeds in your life and in the life of other people. It is no news that our quiet times are no longer quiet these days. They have become shouting times. There's nothing at all wrong with shouting, but the idea of meditation also includes quietness. As shouting and pacing are beneficial, so are quietness and sitting still. Don't lose one in pursuit of the other. When we're still and quiet for some time, clarity comes to us on issues aforetime confusing. Our strength and confidence escalate as we quietly think about His word. Do this and you'll find strength to make those difficult but necessary decisions in life. Quit worrying. Worrying brings depression; but meditation brings strength. Therefore, as you pray, also learn to meditate in quietness. Shalom Uvracha!
