If God tells you he is sending somebody to help you or to make a way for you, you'll automatically expect to see a person of great influence, wealth or power. But this isn't always so. Not understanding the ways of God has made many of God's children miss God's best for them. Many have chased away their divinely sent helper because he/she didn't look like a helper. You need to understand that the one sent by God to help you in 5 years' time may first need your help today. Never treat anyone badly. Be kind to everyone, including those who seem not to deserve it. God's helper to you will not always look the part. So, it was with Joseph. The bible says God sent Joseph to preserve Israel, Egypt and other nations. How did God send him? Ps.105.17-18; He was sold as a slave, chained like a common animal, and sent even to prison. Yet, all this time, he was the man sent by God to preserve the very people who disregarded him. Ps.105.19; Between the receiving of the prophecy and the fulfilment of the prophecy, the word of God tried Joseph. This means that he was going through the refinery of God's word in order to flush out every hinderance to God's will and prepare him to be a vessel suitable for God's use. The difference between raw material and finished product is process.

The platform on which process creates God's will is time. The person you see as a non-entity today could become a big-entity tomorrow; the difference is process over time. The word of God builds people over time. For you who is sent to others but are getting discouraged right now because you don't seem to be making any progress; refuse to be discouraged. Remember Joseph's preparation. You're going through your preparation as well. The word of God is trying you and it isn't always convenient. But if you go through your process successfully, you'll be a vessel for fulfilling God's agenda on the earth. Finally, to you who is expecting help from God, remember that your helper from God may look like a useless slave like Joseph in prison. If you will be faithful in being kind to 'Joseph', one day Joseph will no longer be a slave but a King and he will deliver you and your land from famine. Selah!
