Remove thy way far from her, and come not nigh the door of her house:

Prov.5.8

Discussion

DISCUSSION:

There are things we do in our lives that slow down our spiritual growth, dull our spiritual sensitivity, dampen our love walk, and make us produce the works of the flesh. The bible calls these things 'sin'. These days, people don't like to hear about sin. It makes them uncomfortable. They'll prefer to hear about grace, righteousness and eternal forgiveness. As much as these are completely true doctrines, the same book that reveals eternal forgiveness to us also reveals the dangers of sinning to us. In proverbs chapter five, the bible tells us about the forbidden woman. This isn't only referring to promiscuous women but far more importantly, this is revealing to us the dangers of temptations. Temptations are the doorway to sin, and sin is the doorway to death. Jas.1:14-15; "But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death." So, it describes the foolishness of a person who frolics with obvious temptation. Replace 'immoral woman'/'strange woman' etc with 'temptation', then read; Prov.5.3-13; "The lips of an immoral woman are as sweet as honey, and her mouth is smoother than oil. But the result is as bitter as poison, sharp as a double-edged sword. Her feet go down to death; her steps lead straight to the grave. For she does not care about the path to life. She staggers down a crooked trail and doesn't even realize where it leads. So now, my sons, listen to me. Never stray from what I am about to say: Run from her! Don't go near the door of her house! If you do, you will lose your honor and hand over to merciless people everything you have achieved in life. Strangers will obtain your wealth, and someone else will enjoy the fruit of your labor. Afterward you will groan in anguish when disease consumes your body, and you will say, "How I hated discipline! If only I had not demanded my own way! Oh, why didn't I listen to my teachers? Why didn't I pay attention to those who gave me instruction?". Notice the attraction sin has on the human flesh; then notice again how bitter the end is. So it's not about what you're enjoying; sin only gives you temporary pleasures; it's about the consequences. The repercussions are staggering. Your health, wealth, peace, family etc are at risk to the brutality of sin. So, the bible gives one instruction concerning this; STAY AWAY!...RUN FROM HER(IT)!
