“For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.”
Gal.5.17
Discussion
The bible warns us to be on high alert against the deceptions of the devil. 1Pet.5.8; "Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:" He doesn't devour by power; he devours by wiles/deceptions; Eph.6.11; "Put on all of God's armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies and tricks of the Devil."NLT. While he has tricks, you've got power, but oftentimes his tricks can defeat a believer who has power but lacks self-control. The devil's deceptions are greatly strengthened by the presence of the flesh/carnality/lust in men. The flesh works as a favorite partner with the devil. This is why temptations brought by the devil, have more chance of overwhelming you when your flesh corporates with him. Without the corporation of your flesh/carnal nature/self, a temptation loses its power to work against you. Jas.1.14- 15; "But every person is tempted when he is drawn away, enticed and baited by his own evil desire (lust, passions). Then the evil desire, when it has conceived, gives birth to sin, and sin, when it is fully matured, brings forth death."AMP. The flesh is like a wild beast. If not tamed, it'll bring you to ruins. Thus, the way to always walk in victory, is to take charge of your flesh. The devil is powerless against you if you'll allow the Spirit of God govern you by His Word daily. This is what it means to live according to the Spirit. This is how to take charge of your flesh. If you'd do this, you will not fulfill the desires of the flesh. Govern your self by the Spirit of God, and you'll live a life of peace and victory everyday. Shalom Uvracha!
