USE ME OH LORD!

Verse of the Day

“If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work.”

2Tim.2.21

Discussion

It's common among Christian assemblies for saints to pray; "Use me oh Lord!" We pray it fervently, continually and desperately sometimes. It almost seems like God really doesn't want to use us, so we have to be persistent enough to get Him to change His mind. But when we look into the scriptures, we find that God is more eager to use us than we are willing to be used for his glorious purposes. God has always been the one in search of men. Isa.6.8; "Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me." See here that God was the one looking for who to send. The desire to send or use somebody always originates from the Father's heart. Ours is to respond to the Father's call. Ezek.22.30; "And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none." Here again, we see that God was the one seeking for a man that'll stand as an intercessor. There is no lack of divine calling, what we have is a lack of responders. God is always looking for vessels He can use, but the problem is that not all vessels are fit to be used. So, instead of crying daily for God to use you, position yourself to be usable. To do this, you have to purge yourself from things that dishonour the Lord. 2Tim.2.21; "If you keep yourself pure, you will be a utensil God can use for his purpose. Your life will be clean, and you will be ready for the Master to use you for every good work."NLT. A life of purity is necessary for long term and effective service in God's vineyard. A pure vessel is a useful vessel for God's honorable purposes. The next verse gives us an idea of how to live a pure life. 2Tim.2.22; "Run from anything that stimulates youthful lust. Follow anything that makes you want to do right. Pursue faith and love and peace, and enjoy the companionship of those who call on the Lord with pure hearts."NLT. Follow these instructions daily and you'll find out that you have become a mighty vessel in God's hands. Shalom Uvracha!
