Walking on Water

Verse of the Day

for God so loved the World

Matthew 14:29

Discussion

We all have a "boat" in our lives—a place of comfort, safety, and predictability. For the disciples, the boat was their security in the middle of a raging storm. But when Jesus appeared on the water, He didn't just calm the storm immediately; He invited Peter into it.

"Come," Jesus said. That single word was an invitation to step out of the familiar and into the miraculous. Peter had to make a choice: stay in the boat with his fear, or step onto the water with his Savior.
We are often faced with this same choice. God will frequently call us to do things that make no logical sense to our natural minds. It might be starting a new ministry, forgiving someone who hurt us, or giving sacrificially. Whenever God says "Come," He is already supplying the grace to keep you afloat. Keep your eyes on Him, and take the step.
