“And God wrought special miracles by the hands of Paul: So that from his body were brought unto the sick handkerchiefs or aprons, and the diseases departed from them, and the evil spirits went out of them.”
Acts 19:11-12;
Discussion
God wrought special miracles by the hands of Paul. These were called special miracles because of their mode of administration. Usually, miracles were known to be worked by the laying on of hands or the authority of a spoken word. But this time, handkerchiefs and aprons were taken after they made contact with Paul's body, to the sick and to the demon-possessed and the diseases departed, and the demons went out of them. The handkerchiefs and aprons received the power of the Holy Ghost, who was in Paul. These handkerchiefs and aprons had no feelings; they didn't feel power, neither were they excited. They were inanimate, lifeless materials, yet they carried power. They weren't conscious of the power they carried, but the demons saw the power and fled from their human victims. Now, if the diseases and the demons recognized the power domiciled in clothing materials, how much more will they recognize the power in a human vessel itself. If the handkerchief drove out devils, how much more will the person carrying the power drive out diseases and devils? Do you see this? You're far greater than a handkerchief or an apron.
The power of the Holy Ghost is not transferred to you from somewhere else; rather, the power dwells in you because the Holy Spirit dwells in you. Hallelujah! The problem is our doubts and unbelief usually get in the way of the power in us. Those handkerchiefs couldn't doubt. They didn't have the capacity for unbelief, so the power flowed freely. You have to get rid of doubt by building strong faith through hearing/meditating on God's word (Romans 10:17), praying and fasting (Mark 9:29, Jude 1:20). Do these, and allow the free flow of divine power through you to heal diseases and drive out devils everywhere you go. Power isn't to be prayed for; power is to be allowed to flow. When you received the Holy Spirit, you received power (Acts 1:8). Afterwards, you stir up this power every time it is needed and allow it to flow (2Timothy 1:6). Amen!
