YOU WILL NOT DIE

Verse of the Day

“Look, I'm dying of starvation!" said Esau. "What good is my birthright to me now?"NLT”

Gen.25.32

Discussion

Esau was so hungry and desperately desired the sumptuous pottage prepared by Jacob. His desire overwhelmed him until he blurted out; "Look, I'm dying of starvation! What good is my birthright to me now?" But was it true that he would die? Surely not! He wasn't a starving man. He probably ate the previous day. A morning without a meal wouldn't have killed him. So, although he wouldn't have died that day without food, his desire made him feel like he would die. Your desires can lie to you. Your feelings cannot always be trusted in weighty matters. Esau went with his feelings and traded something eternal for something temporary. This is the attitude of many believers. Having received eternal life, they allow the devil put them under pressure on a certain matter until they make a foolish decision like Esau did.

You may feel like you're going to die if that boyfriend of yours leaves you. Guess what! You won't die! Life goes on! You may feel like you're going to die if you don't have carnal knowledge of that attractive lady that's not your wife. That's stupid sir! You won't die, I can assure you of that. When that unrighteous money comes to your table, you may feel you're going to die if you don't collect it. You will not die. Your integrity is of far greater value than all the money in the world (Prov.22.1 - A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches...) Your marriage is far more valuable than a fleeting affair. Your children are far more valuable than the deadly consequences of a fling. Make up your mind never to trade your long term valuables for short term pleasures. Be a man/woman of eternal consciousness, not of wordly consciousness. Although you live in today; live for tomorrow. Shalom Uvracha!

Prayer

I thank you Father, for the grace to live with eternal consciousness. In Jesus name, I esteem permanent and eternal things far higher than temporal things. I will not succumb to the pressures of the devil and of this world. In Christ Jesus, I am more than a conqueror. Amen!
